One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to R.J. Grier, Chester County, PA, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled collar, decorated on the body with two tulips extending up the front along with leaves on each side. Collar decorated with two cobalt leaves on each side, flanking a stripe-decorated spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. An earlier example of Grier's work. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing chip to surface on left side of pitcher's front.
