Fine and Rare Diminutive Redware Sugar with Mocha-Style Seaweed Decoration, Pennsylvania origin, 19th century, ovoid form with footed base and ribbed handles, decorated around the body with several seaweed motifs in the English mocha style. Interior coated in yellowish slip. Entire surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Desirable form and decoration. Incised "6" on underside. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor's parents or grandparents decades ago. Missing lid. A shallow 1/2" chip to top of rim. Additional wear and minor chipping to rim. Light wear to handle. Wear to foot and underside. H 2 3/8" ; Diameter (across top) 4 5/8".
