Fine Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Pears Decoration, Stamped "W A MACQUOID & CO / POTTERY WORKS / LITTLE Wst 12TH ST. NY", circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an artistically-brushed design of two bears hanging from a leafy branch. Excellent detail throughout the pears gives them a three-dimensional appearance. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Two hairlines from rim on front, measuring 4" and 3 1/2". Two hairlines from rim on reverse, measuring 3" and 2 1/2".
