Two-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1855, cylindrical cooler with squared rim, heavily-ribbed handles, and circular bunghole, featuring a flowering plant with graduated blossoms, emanating from the bunghole. Wavy cobalt stripe above. Similar decoration on reverse. Unusual cross-shaped cobalt decoration to bunghole and highlight surrounding bunghole. Wavy cobalt line under handles and highlights to terminals. A 4 3/4" crack from rim on front. A 1" line and minor nick to left handle. Tight lines on underside, including a 2 1/4" line extending up right side of cooler at base. Two rim chips on reverse and a minor rim chip on front. H 13 3/4".
