Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated "MUSTARD MANUFACTORY" Stoneware Advertising Jar, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared rim, featuring the impresed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "H. WITTICHS / MUSTARD MANUFACTORY / COR HIGH & GRANBY ST. / BALTIMORE". Decorated around the shoulder with brushed swags. A wonderful example of Baltimore advertising stoneware featuring exceptional subject matter. Wide top-to-bottom crack on left side of jar. Tight spider cracks in underside, including one spider crack that extends 6 1/2" diagonally onto body of jar. Base chips. A glazed-over rim chip. An in-the-firing stone ping on interior of rim. A 2 3/8" section of shallow chipping to top of rim.
