Scarce Alleghany City, PA Stoneware Advertising Jug, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooling to shoulder and spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt inscription "J.H. Hespenheide / Liquors. / No. 108 / Ohio Street. / Alleghany City". Cobalt stripe decoration above and below. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing loss to top of handle. Some in-the-firing chips/contact marks to shoulder. A 7/8" chip to spout. A salt drip to reverse.
