Unusual Three-Gallon Peabody, MA Stoneware Advertising Jar with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Shoulder impressed with advertising, "C.F. WORTHE / PEABODY-MASS". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a few minor nicks to inner rim for lid.
