Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, semi-ovoid jug with pronounced, squared spout, decorated with a brushed design of a large tulip blossom emanating from a leafy stem. Unusual freehand cobalt number 2 above. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
