Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tall flaring collar and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two large leaves flanking heart-shaped brushwork. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Cobalt daubs underneath each handle. A thin 4" crack from rim on reverse. A shallow rim chip on front. A 3" hairline at base on front, continuing a short distance onto underside. Some light water glass staining to surface.
