Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and wax sealer rim, featuring the stenciled advertising "H.F. BEHRENS / GROCER. / 2217 & 2219 / MARKET STREET / WHEELING. W. VA. / 3601 JACOBS / SOUTH BRANCH". Finely-stenciled tulip below the name "BEHRENS". Block stenciling at base. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing base chip. A 1" rim chip. Areas of shallow chipping along interior of rim. H 6 5/8".
