Two-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt House Decoration, Stamped "A. O. WHITTEMORE, / HAVANA. N.Y", circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a house with two chimneys, five windows, and a door, situated on a stylized ground. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Fry to cobalt. A 4" area of restoration to rim. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing Y-shaped line at base, continuing 2 1/4" onto underside. A few chips to one handle. A 1" iron ping to side of jar.
