Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt House Decoration, Stamped "A.O. WHITTEMORE. / HAVANA. N.Y", circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and flared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a house with two chimneys, five windows, and a door, situated atop a stylized ground. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a 3/4" in-the-firing rim chip on reverse, beside another very small rim chip.
