Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, the surface covered in a streaky whitish slip and decorated with sponged manganese around the shoulder. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark at shoulder. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some minor in-the-firing chipping to base. H 8".
