Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, with concave sides, footed base, and carved oval opening at shoulder, decorated around the midsection with six brushed leaves. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A few base chips. Nicks to opening at shoulder. Large chip to opening in top. Hairline extending from opening in top. Several chips to top edge. Light surface wear. H 4" ; Diameter 8 1/4".
