Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with New York City Advertising, Stamped "C. HAIDLE & CO / UNION POTTERY / NEWARK, N.J.", circa 1871-1875, semi-ovoid form with rounded shoulder and flared collar, featuring the slip-trailed cobalt inscription "1. G. / Bauer Bros. / 215. Centre. St. / N.Y.". Excellent size and color with desirable New York City advertising. Excellent condition with an in-the-firing chip to underside at edge and some very minor nicks to inner rim, where a lid would rest.
