One-Gallon Iron-Dipped Stoneware Jar, Stamped "BOSTON", Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid jar with flared rim, applied lug handles, and coggled band around shoulder, the base with dipped iron-oxide decoration. Additional light iron-oxide around shoulder area. Front impressed with large "BOSTON" mark within a waving banner. A horizontal crack around much of base's circumference, along with a few tight vertical hairlines extending a few inches from this crack. Otherwise excellent condition.
