Unusual Two-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Incised "N.C.," North Carolina origin, second half 19th century, ovoid form with thin, downward-angled rim and large strap handles, incised under one handle with the initials "N.C" and the number "2". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from a Southeastern Virginia collection amassed decades ago. Rim and handle chips. Some light surface wear to shoulder area. Minor base nicks.
