Small-Sized Redware Inkwell with Manganese Decoration, American, possibly New England, late 18th to mid 19th century, circular form with central hole flanked by two smaller quill holes, the surface decorated with two manganese splotches and covered in a clear lead glaze. Very nice color. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from an inkwell collection amassed over the last thirty years, consigned to this auction. Two base chips. Light wear to shoulder. Small, expected worn spot on interior of central hole and some expected wear to one quill hole. Diameter 2 5/8".
