Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stenciled "H. & S. SWANK / JOHNSTOWN, PA," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and tab handles, decorated with a distinctive Swank floral motif on one side, and on the reverse with the large stenciled signature "H. & S. SWANK, / JOHNSTOWN, PA.". Several cobalt dashes under each handle, along with cobalt highlights at the handle terminals. Restoration to both sides, base, and underside, not affecting decoration or stenciling.
