Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Flowering Urn Decoration and Centennial Date, Stamped "WHITES UTICA NY," ovoid churn with tall collar, applied lug handles, and unusual tooled banding throughout, the front decorated with a slip-trailed design of two flowering plants emanating from an open-handled urn, surrounding the date "1876". Slip-trailed wreath decoration around maker's mark. Some light streaks of water glass staining to surface. An in-the-firing contact mark / chip to right edge of decoration. Faint 3 3/4" Y-shaped line on reverse. Heavy chipping to interior of rim. Thin 3 3/4" vertical crack from rim on right side of churn's front. Some spots of fry to cobalt.
