Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Patriotic Shield Decorations, attributed to William Macquoid, New York, New York, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with four converging shields, two with stars and two with stripes. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in the Northeastern U.S. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a very minor nick on interior of rim and a minor in-the-firing iron ping on reverse.
