Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD / BURLINGTON, VT.," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stem bearing two large blossoms with scrolled stamens. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Glazed-over iron ping to reverse. Staining to surface, primarily on reverse. Small chip to one handle. A small chip and minor nick to interior of rim. 5 1/2" spidering surface line on side of crock, not visible on interior. Very minor 1" surface line on reverse, not visible on interior.
