Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "NICHOLS & BOYNTON / BURLINGTON, VT," circa 1856-1859, ovoid jar with lug handles, decorated with a brushed flower with curling stamens. Cobalt highlights to maker's and capacity marks. Two chips to one handle. A chip and minor wear to opposite handle. 2 1/2" hairline from rim on front. A small in-the-firing chip near base. A shallow 1" chip at base, beside a small base chip.
