One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / MOUNT MORRIS," New York State origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt "1" on front. Rim chips. In-the-firing contact mark on reverse. A few small, shallow chips to inner rim where a lid would rest.
