Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug Stamped "JORDAN," New York State origin, mid 19th century, highly ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with flowering tulip plant bearing four blossoms. Cobalt highlights to the maker's mark, "JORDAN.," on shoulder. Additional heavy cobalt circle over the stamped two-gallon capacity mark with impressed wreath border. A few contact / kiln furniture marks to body. Tight lines in handle. Approximately 10 1/2" crack extending from shoulder on reverse, under handle, and around to right side of jug's front. Some staining to surface.
