Two-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff and Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, squat-shaped, cylindrical jar with applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a two tulips extending from a looping stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes a salt-glazed lid, possibly original to the jar. A small nick to each handle. Some fry to cobalt. A 3 1/2" Y-shaped surface line to left side of jar's front. A chip to inner rim where a lid would rest. Lid in excellent condition.
