Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a bird with heavily-shaded body, perched on a large leaf. Small handle chip. Some streaks of water glass staining to surface, primarily on reverse. Two minor nicks on inner rim, where a lid would rest.
