Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spaniel Doorstop, Ohio or possibly Texas origin, fourth quarter 19th century, molded figure of a seated spaniel, the surface covered in a whitish Bristol slip and cobalt-decorated with spots, a collar, locket, and leash, as well as details to the face and paws. Significant base chips. Hairline extending from base on reverse. A nick to nose, an in-the-firing contact mark to left side of muzzle, and a tiny glaze flake to left ear. H 9 3/8".
