Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, the front decorated with a finely-stenciled bird surrounded by stenciled floral and foliate accents. Freehand stripes at base and rim. Stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. Very tight, inverted 7" Y-shaped line on left side of front. Semi-circular line on underside. Staining to surface.
