Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Federal Shield Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated at the center with a stenciled Federal shield flanked by arrows. Rim and base with freehand cobalt stripe decoration. Stenciled "3" flanked by flourishes at base. 5 1/2" Y-shaped crack on reverse, extending onto underside. Grease residue on underside. Some staining to surface. Small chip to end of one handle. 1" base chip on reverse.
