Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Cobalt Bird in Branch, Stamped "NORTH BAY," John C. Waelde, North Bay, NY, circa 1855, cylindrical jug with rounded spout, decorated with a heavily-sponged, stenciled design of crested bird with turned head, perched in a slip-trailed branch. Brushed cobalt stripe through maker's mark. Excellent size and decoration. 2 1/2" Y-shaped hairline from spout on front. 2" hairline from spout on reverse.
