Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a delicately slip-trailed flowering plant featuring a daisy and a large blossom with alternating shaded and hollow petals. Slip-trailed "4." at shoulder. Faint 9" hairline from rim on front. Top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, including a small chip along crack on interior. 1" and 3/4" chips to one handle. Spots of staining.
