Very Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER & CO. / ROCHESTER, NY," circa 1850, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed flowering plant bearing daisy, tulip, and conical flower blossoms. Dotted and shaded accents to flowers and leaves. Slip-trailed "3." to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent design showing three different flower types used at the Stetzenmeyer shop. Very nice condition. Base chip on reverse. A few minor chips to underside. Chip to handle. Minor nick to inner rim for lid. A few spots of staining.
