Scarce One-Quart Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, New Jersey origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a curved stem with leaves. Reverse inscribed in cobalt "1/4". Excellent size. 3 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. A few nicks to rim. Thin shallow 1 1/4" chip to bottom edge. Shallow chip to edge of underside. Minor base nicks. H 7 1/4".
