Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird and Butterfly Decoration, atttributed to the Fulper Pottery, Flemington, NJ, fourth quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a large bird with turned head, perched on a leafy branch and attempting to devour a butterfly. Excellent design. Essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing, glazed-over horizontal line around base, an in-the-firing, glazed-over line in base of handle, and some light staining.
