Unusual Glazed Redware Widemouthed Jug with Lid, American, early to mid 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with wide mouth, heavily-tooled shoulder, and ribbed strap handle, including original domed lid with button-shaped finial. Jug and lid covered in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Excellent form. Provenance: Ex-Collection Lester Breininger. Chips and wear to lid. Wear to handle and rim of jug. Some very light surface wear to midsection of jug. A minor 6" in-the-firing vertical line, which filled with glaze during the firing. H (including lid) 11".
