Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A,J, BUTTLER, / MANUFACTERUR(sic) / NEW-BRUNSWICK, NJ," circa 1860, squat-shaped, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout and applied strap handle, the front decorated with three brushed cobalt tulips surrounding the number "2" in cobalt script. Outstanding form with good color. Excellent, as-made condition with a small in-the-firing contact mark to handle.
