Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Coggled Fish Decoration, Impressed "RUM," attributed to the Morgan / Van Wickle Pottery, Old Bridge, NJ, early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and heavily-reeded neck, the shoulder decorated with a coggled and cobalt-highlighted design of fish and berries. Impressed "RUM" below spout, in large letters with brushed cobalt highlight. Examples bearing both the coggled fish design and liquor name are unusual. Professionally-restored handle. Minor base chip. Small, shallow chip to edge on underside.
