Very Fine Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "S. AMBOY. N. JERSY," Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century, finely-potted ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and squared rim, the front decorated with an impressed, scallop-edged crescent, brushed over with cobalt. Shoulder impressed with the large maker's mark, "S. AMBOY. N. JERSY," employed at the South Amboy, New Jersey pottery of Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts. A newly-discovered example, potted in a desirable small size with excellent color and condition. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned from Florida. Excellent condition with a small chip on reverse of rim. H 7 1/4".
