Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock with Lid, Both Stamped "P. HERRMANN," Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated with brushed cobalt swags around the shoulder. Lid decorated with cobalt clover blossoms around border and unusual dots surrounding knob. Crock with two large reglued pieces to one side with cracks continuing a short distance onto underside, small rim chips, wear to handles, and some scattered light exfoliation, and a base chip. Large hairline to lid, otherwise excellent condition.
