Unusual Glazed Redware Vase, 19th century, with rotund body, tall neck with flared rim, and ribbed strap handles, the surface decorated with streaks of manganese and copper over a yellow ground with clear lead overglaze. Excellent form and color. This origin of this vase is currently unknown, with similarities to Tennessee and North Carolina redware, as well as similarities to pieces made outside of the United States. The weight is consistent with American redware. Spout with chips, wear, and a 7/8" hairline. Some light wear to surface and handle. Numerous tiny base chips. Small in-the-firing contact mark to one side. H 9".
