Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Stamped "W.B. KENNER / STRASBURG VA," circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated around the shoulder with a series of brushed cobalt swags. Rare and desirable Shenandoah Valley maker’s mark. Tight 2 1/4" Y-shaped surface line on underside, extending 1 1/4" up base of jar. Very faint 2 1/2" surface line from rim, probably in-the-making. Neither of these lines are visible on the interior of the jar. Several small rim chips.
