One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Boston Advertising and Cobalt Bird Decoration, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a crested bird with fan-shaped tail, perched in a stylized branch, stamped "E.W. HALE / BOSTON." 2 1/2" in-the-firing chip to bottom edge. 2 1/4" hairline from rim. A small, shallow chip and some minor nicks on interior of rim.
