Fine Westerwald Stoneware Presentation Tobacco Jar with Incised Stag Decoration, Dated 1844, German origin, cylindrical jar with knob-shaped handles surrounded by incised star decorations, the front with the initials "H L" within an incised border, the reverse with the date 1844 with similar incised border, the sides with incised stags. Heavy cobalt highlights throughout. Rim with additional cobalt daubs. Excellent decoration and form. Thin cracks throughout. A few small rim chips. H 6".
