Extremely Rare Molded Stoneware Historical Flask with American Indian Motif, Stamped "CLARK & FOX / ATHENS / N.Y.," circa 1835, molded salt-glazed stoneware flask with ribbed spout, both sides featuring a well-detailed relief design of an American Indian in headdress, holding a bow. Indian motif surrounded by beaded border. Additional beaded molded surrounding spout. Impressed below decoration on both sides with Clark & Fox maker's. Flask was fashioned with a recessed underside. This overall style of the flask suggests that it was modeled after molded glass historical flasks of the period, in which famous political and other figures were depicted. One of a very few molded stoneware historical flasks known. Excellent condition. H 7 1/2".
