Southern Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Notation, probably North Carolina origin, late 19th century, tapered jar with flattened rim, the surface covered in a streaky olive alkaline glaze. Body incised "9 x 7," presumably the measurements of the height and opening of the jar prior to firing, or the desired measurements post-firing. Thin 5" crack from. A nick and minor wear to rim. H 6 3/4".
