Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Bank, probably Eastern PA origin, Dated 1852, ovoid bank with pronounced foot, tooled shoulder, and pointed finial embellished with vertically-incised lines, the shoulder featuring two carved coin slots on opposing sides. Surface decorated with heavy cobalt highlights, along with a vertical flower, and the date "1852" in cobalt. This bank is the first two-slotted example we have seen. Excellent condition. H 6 1/2".
