Rare Ornamental Redware Ewer, Stamped "SPEESE & SON / GETTYSBURG, PA," late 19th century, skillfully-potted ewer with ovoid body, rounded foot, and tall collar with flared and pinched rim. Graceful rounded handle applied from rim to body of pitcher. Surface decorated with applied and textured plaster, painted grayish-green. Impressed on underside with "Speese & Son" maker's mark, along with the number "12". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently discovered in Southcentral PA. Excellent condition with minor wear to applied plaster surface. H 11".
