Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock with Lid, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied tab handles, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant design on the front and back. Lid features cobalt daubs around the edge and petal-shaped brushwork around the knob, incised "2" on underside. Heavy chipping to rim. Crack from rim, extending across underside. 2 1/4" flake to interior of rim. Lid with two chips to flange on underside, and a small glazed-over chip to edge on underside.
