Small-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with West Virginia Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with wax sealer rim and tooling to shoulder and foot, the front decorated with a finely-stenciled tulip, two small stars at the shoulder, and a freehand stripe at the base. Stenciled across the front with the advertising "H.F. BEHRENS / GROCER. / 2217 & 2219 / MARKET STREET / WHEELING. W. VA". A good, small-sized example of West Virginia advertising. Faint 2" hairline from rim. Chips to interior of rim. H 6 3/8".
